Brenham Stabbing Leaves One Man Dead, Another in Custody

Brenham police have arrested a 28-year-old man and charged him with the first degree murder of man who died after being stabbed in chest with a pocket knife on Thursday.

Witnesses say 43-year-old Zeldt Thomas Minor, Junior was stabbed once during a fight in the 700 block of Fairview Street in Brenham around 5:30 p.m.

Police say after the stabbing, Jeffrey LaDon Hopes fled the scene but was later arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail. Chris Jackson with the Brenham Police Department says Hopes was getting a ride to Somerville and was picked up on Highway 36 somewhere between Brenham and Somerville. Hopes' bond has been set at $750,000.

Minor was taken to Scott and White Hospital in Brenham but died from his wounds.

Police say a man has been stabbed to death during a fight in Brenham.

It happened just after 5pm Thursday afternoon in the 700 block of Fairview Avenue in Brenham.

According to Brenham police, a 42 year old man has died from knife wounds he sustained in a fight. They say that fight happened in the yard of a home.

Officials say he died after being transported to a Brenham hospital.

A 28-year old male suspect has been taken into custody.

No other injuries are reported.
