Brittany Henderson No Longer A Person Of Interest In Texas A&M Bomb Threat Case

Updated: Sat 4:36 AM, Nov 03, 2012

The FBI has filed federal charges against a Bryan resident in connection to a threat against Texas State University.

It's the same man suspected of emailing a bomb threat to Texas A&M.

22-year-old Dereon Kelly appeared in federal court Friday.

He's accused of emailing a bomb threat to Texas State University in San Marcos on October 18th.

Dereon Kelly remains jailed for the Texas A&M threat and these new charges.

Friday night Texas A&M University Police announced his friend Brittany Henderson is no longer being considered a person of interest in the Texas A&M University bomb threat hoax.

Kelly's family told News 3 this week that Dereon and she had been dating

Brittany Henderson is charged with sending in an e-mail bomb threat to Texas State University prompting the evacuation of three buildings on October 18th.

She was transferred to the Hays County Jail in San Marcos on Halloween after being arrested in Bryan last week.

Henderson's bond has been reduced from an original $300,000 to $40,500.

Investigators say the e-mails for both bomb threats at Texas State and Texas A&M originated from Brittany Henderson's Yahoo e-mail account.

Texas A&M Police say the bomb threat e-mail in College Station was traced back to Dereon Kelly's cell phone and they allege he used Brittany Henderson's account and password.

That bomb threat prompted more than 50,000 people to evacuate Texas A&M on October 19th, for the first time ever.

Dereon Kelly's bond for allegedly making a terroristic threat is set at $150,000.

If convicted, Dereon Kelly faces up to 10 years in federal prison.

The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's office.
