Last month, his brother was sent to Death Row. Tuesday, Willie Griffin Jr began facing a jury of his own.
The 41-year-old is charged with two counts of indecency with a child and two counts of sexual assault of a child from a 2008 incident. Opening arguments began Tuesday.
Griffin was arrested in 2010 on those charges, but has been in and out of jail twice more since December.
In December, he was charged with assault of a family member and unlawful restraint. Then in March, he was charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.
While in Brazos County Jail in March, he was charged with tampering with evidence, as was Brazos County detention officer Joan Burns. Authorities allege that Burns, an acquaintance of Griffin, lied when she gave a sworn statement questioning the assault victim's story. Burns later confessed to lying for Griffin.
Last month, Griffin's older brother, Stanley, was sentenced to death for a College Station murder. Willie was present during part of the trial. Stanley had worked for Willie prior to the murder of Jennifer Hailey in September 2010.
