Brush Fire Burns 400 Acres in Walker County

A dozen homes north of Huntsville were evacuated Tuesday as firefighters worked to put out a wildfire.

The fire continued to burn Tuesday night in an area off FM 230 and Bo Brown Road, close to the Walker and Houston county lines.

It started around 9:00 a.m. and initially burned about 50 acres. By Tuesday night, more than 400 acres had burned and the fire was 80 percent contained.

Fire officials were asking for voluntary evacuations, but according to officials, everyone has returned home.

Walker County officials said no structures caught fire and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Walker County is currently under a burn ban.
