Bryan / College Station, TX Bryan teachers are getting a little boost in pay.
Tuesday night Bryan ISD School Board Trustees approved a 3.86 percent pay raise for teachers.
The salary increases will help teachers with costs of living and in College Station higher insurance costs.
College Station ISD approved a four percent increase for its teachers last month.
The raises also help the two school districts stay competitive.
"Yes and it certainly, certainly keeps us in the market for all these jobs when we're recruiting and we like to retain our good employees," said Glynn Walker, College Station ISD Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources and Business Services.
While CSISD has approved raises and benefits, the rest of their budget will be approved next month.
Other pay raises for Bryan ISD employees will be considered at their board of trustees meeting on July 15th.
Starting salaries in both districts for new first-time teachers is now $40,000 a year.
