The Bryan ISD Board of Trustees approved the hire of Leroy Morales as principal of Mary Catherine Harris (MC Harris) during its noon workshop meeting Oct. 7. Morales, a bilingual administrator and educator, most recently served as associate principal of Cypress Springs High School.
Prior to that, he served as summer school principal at Cypress Ridge High School and in a variety of student services and assistant principal positions at intermediate and high schools in Cypress Fairbanks, Klein and Aldine ISDs. His 24-year career is evenly split between 12 years as a classroom teacher and coach and, most recently, 12 years serving in administrative roles.
“Mr. Morales brings the interpersonal and leadership skills we were looking for, in this important role,” said Superintendent Tommy Wallis. “His career has been dedicated to working with diverse populations, mentoring students and affecting positive changes in people and organizations. We're fortunate to have his energy and experience now serving our students.”
MC Harris is a secondary school serving Bryan ISD students who may be at-risk for completing high school. The campus offers a flexible environment tailored to allow students to catch up on academic credits and prosper on the path to graduation and career or post-secondary success.
“I’m excited to be here and be a part of the campus and the opportunities it presents our students,” Morales said. “More than anything, I’m excited about the future of our students as we provide them the opportunity to be successful. My passion is for kids, and I’m ready to get started.”
