Field turf is coming to Merrill Green Stadium.
Monday night, the Bryan Independent School District School Board signed off on replacing the grass field at the home of Bryan and Rudder High School's football teams.
In addition, the track around the field will also be replaced.
The district will now look for a company to make the updates. The bidding process will start in the next few weeks. Once a company is chosen, BISD officials say the installation should only take 30 to 40 days.
Those changes would not begin until after the current track season and the district's fifth grade track meet, which come at the end of this school year. The new field turf will be in place for the next football season.
The cost will likely be more than a million dollars, but it will come from leftover money from the 2008 bond approved by voters, not from the district's general fund.
