The Buckholts City Council meets Thursday to discuss the recent actions of the town’s mayor, Hal Senkel.

As listed on the agenda, the Council, in regular session will discuss, review and evaluate the duties and responsibilities of Mayor Senkel.

Senkel’s actions have come under review after it was discovered he wrote a letter on his own personal stationary to the Texas Workforce Commissioner regarding the firing of the town’s former Police Chief James Blackmon who is charged with at least ten counts of tampering with government records.

Previously, the Council discussed Blackmon’s unemployment benefits request through a Texas Workforce Commission hearing and even provided the commission with a detailed letter highlighting the reasons why Blackmon was fired on August 9th.

The former chief was arrested July 5th by officers with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education and Milam County Sheriff`s Deputies on charges he forged government documents

Since his arrest, Blackmon has surrendered his peace officer license and is expected to go to trial during January 2013.

Following Blackmon’s arrest, Mayor Senkel publicly stated he stood by Blackmon.
