The College Station Municipal Court were among only 21 municipal courts receiving a traffic safety award on Tuesday at the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center’s (TMCEC) Traffic Safety Conference in Dallas.
Funded by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation, the Traffic Safety Initiative sponsors the award to recognize municipal courts that have made outstanding contributions to increase traffic safety in their communities.
Applicants were judged on the basis of public outreach efforts to decrease traffic crashes, traffic fatalities, juvenile DUI, child safety seat offenses, red-light running and other traffic-related offenses.
The College Station Municipal Court is one of only eight to receive the award in the medium-volume category, which serves populations between 30,000 and 149,999. Accepting the award for College Station were Deputy Court Clerk Lori Adams and Presiding Judge Edward J. Spillane III.
