With much more on the line in the twin city to the south, College Station voters went to the polls in far greater numbers than Bryan on the first day of early voting in the municipal and school board elections.

When Monday's voting concluded, 340 people had ventured to College Station city hall and the CSISD administration building to cast ballots.

In Bryan, just 19 people showed up to vote.

The discrepancy likely won't surprise most, as College Station has three contested city council elections, three recall elections for city councilmembers, and two contested school board races.

By contrast, voters in Bryan have no contested city council races and just one school board race. There is also a special election on the sales tax in Wixon Valley that the City of Bryan is running.

Early voting runs until May 10. Election Day is May 14.
