Vandals struck numerous vehicles in Cameron overnight, and authorities are searching for the person or people responsible.
According to police, from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, rocks were thrown at at least a dozen vehicles parked along street, knocking out windshields and causing thousands of dollars in damage. The glass door to the Cameron water department was also broken.
Authorities believe the rocks thrown were from the track of the ATSF railroad.
Police Chief Randy Dixon says cars on North Fannin Avenue, North Lamar Avenue, North Central Avenue, Wallace Street, North Houston, North Davis and around Ledbetter Park were hit.
Investigators are looking into leads, including reports of a gray Cadillac and a black pickup truck seen in the areas in question.
