The Cameron Police Department is investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Friday evening at approximately 7:49pm at the intersection of State Highway 36 ( West 4th Street) and Scott Avenue in the City of Cameron. A maroon Buick Roadmaster was west bound on State Highway 36, turning left onto Scott Ave. The vehicle turned directly into the path of a 2000 Freightliner 18-Wheeler that was eastbound on State Highway 36. The truck struck the front passenger door of the vehicle. Believed to be killed on impact was the passenger in the Buick, Tanya Ranee Spiller, age 34 from Cameron, Texas. The driver of the Buick, Troy Eugene LaBlanc, age 45 was transported to Scott and White Hospital by American Medical Response Ambulance where he is in unknown condition. The deceased required the Cameron Fire Department to use the jaws of life to extricate the individual. JP Sam Berry pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was uninjured. The accident is being investigated by the Cameron Police Department with assistance from the Department of Public Safety.
