Bryan - For Carol Wagner giving back is not only important, it is a way of life. As a 2014 Jefferson Award recipient, Wagner is being honored for her volunteer work with numerous nonprofit organizations across the Brazos Valley.
Carol says it is important to donate your time no matter what the situation is, and thanks to the positive influence of her mom she feels there really are enough hours in the day to devote to others.
"I'm following an example that was set for me by my mother who despite being a single mom with 3 children still found time and resources to be part of nonprofit activities," said Wagner.
Thanks to Carol's work behind the scenes at Voices for Children in Bryan, scores of children have been able to find their forever family.
But she believes there's a need for even more people to step forward.
"I think that almost everyone in this community knows someone who is involved in some nonprofit activity. And it's important to have that person introduce you to the organization and perhaps be your support as you first get involved with them," Wagner said.
Carol's service to the Brazos Valley goes far beyond Voices for Children. She volunteers with The Arts Council of the Brazos Valley, the Prenatal Clinic, the Salvation Army, and many other nonprofit organizations.
