PRESS RELEASE On Tuesday, September 17, the Huntsville Police Department and the Walker County Sheriff’s Department conducted a joint narcotics operation, resulting in the seizure of cash, drugs and drug paraphernalia, surveillance equipment and more.
The discovery resulted from the execution of a narcotics search warrant for 201 Elmwood, a private residence within the Forest Hills subdivision.
The Huntsville Police Department’s SWAT team, with assistance from members of Sam Houston State University Police Department’s SWAT team and the Walker County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team, served the search warrant.
“Following the development of information by Detectives with HPD and the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, a joint task force executed the narcotics search warrant,” HPD Lieutenant Jim Barnes said. “As a result of the operation, two individuals - Heath Sikes Wiley and Karen Jennifer White were arrested and charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, which is a first degree felony.
“As well, several illegal items, including ten grams of methamphetamine; numerous items of paraphernalia including smoking pipes, bags for resale, scales and hypodermic needles; currency; and a surveillance camera system.”
The City of Huntsville Code Enforcement Officials also responded due to the condition of the residence, and issued several citations for building code violations.
“The continued cooperation between the Huntsville Police Department, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, the Walker County District Attorney’s Office and Sam Houston State University Police Department resulted in the removal of a substantial amount of narcotics from the streets of Huntsville,” HPD Chief Kevin Lunsford said. “Our citizens are very fortunate to have a joint law enforcement community taking steps together to fight crime.”
