The St. Joseph Health System will be looking for a new CEO. A spokesperson for the Bryan hospital wouldn't give a reason why former CEO Tony Pfizer is no longer heading the hospital system, but instead released the following news release:
Bryan, TX (April 19, 2011) – Effective Wednesday, April 18, Tony Pfitzer is no longer CEO of the St. Joseph Health System.
Jim Pope, CEO of Sylvania Franciscan Health, the governing body of the St. Joseph Health System, will temporarily fill this role. A national search for a new CEO will be conducted. Based on the length of the search, an interim CEO may be appointed.
It is important to note this change in leadership is not due to impropriety of any kind, nor is it related to changes in our affiliation with Scott & White Health Plan. We wish Tony all the best and appreciate his dedicated service to St. Joseph.
The Sisters of St. Francis, who established St. Joseph in 1936, remain committed to the health ministry at St. Joseph. We will continue to focus on providing excellent care to the patients who rely on us every day.
