A Hearne city council member could be facing additional charges after allegedly assaulting someone at a Quinceañera.

Mathew Gomez was arrested Saturday night for punching two people according to the Robertson County Sheriff's Office. He was released after paying a $250 fine and court costs.

Victoria Contreras says she was one of the victim’s that was assaulted by Gomez.

"It upsets me because he had no right to do that. I don't understand why he did it. It wasn't like I went in and attacked him or anything. I just went 'why did you do that Matt,” Contreras said.

The incident occurred Saturday night. Contreras says she and her husband were at Fireman's Hall in Hearne attending the Quinceañera. She says Gomez started using curse words on the stage at the party.

Her husband tried to stop him, but Gomez punched her husband then took a swing at her.

"I hit the wall, and I fell on the ground. I tried to get back up, but I was in a daze,” Contreras said.

That charge is unacceptable to Contreras.

"I just don't want him to walk away for nothing after he did this. He is supposed to be a public servant,” said Contreras.

She says she has yet to hear from the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department after calling them multiple times. She wants to press additional charges.

We tried contacting Gomez and have not heard back from him.
His father, the mayor of Hearne, says he has no comment.
