College Station City Council Approves Incentives For Mental Hospital

Updated: Tue 6:50 PM, Nov 20, 2012

A new mental health hospital is coming to College Station.

The College Station City Council voted Monday night to offer an 8-year property tax break for Strategic Behavioral Health.

The company plans to build a 72- bed mental health hospital on six acres of land next to the College Station Medical Center.

Under the plan the company will invest $10 million on the property and bring 200 new jobs for a 50,000 square foot facility.

The tax abatement will save the company about $200,000 but the city will still bring in around $240,000 in property taxes.

The proposal is the newest plan in development for the College Station Medical District.
