College Station City Council Considering Options For Rental Housing

COLLEGE STATION, Texas The College Station City Council is looking at ways to enhance the city's ordinance on rental housing.

Thursday night the council took no official action but directed staff to continue with plans to survey local residents, homeowner's associations, and property owners regarding rental properties.

The current ordinance requires all rental homes in the city be registered for $15 a year.

City staff are looking at ways to maintain neighborhood integrity and reduce problems with some of the college rental housing.

They are exploring ideas including a permitting process in the future to beef up current rules.

The discussion applies to single family homes and does not address rental housing for football game days.
