BALL, Louisiana – For the second time this month, a proud member of the military from our area is making headlines for a viral post.
Sgt Andrew Rioz, who graduated from A&M Consolidated, is currently attending Non Commissioned Officers Academy at Camp Cook in Ball, Louisiana. Rioz and his fellow soldiers came up with a unique way to wish their moms a Happy Mother’s Day.
Dressed in fatigues, Rioz and the other soldiers spelled out “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY” with their bodies.
What they didn’t know at the time was the reaction it would get. The post has gone viral. In less than an hour after we posted the picture on the KBTX Facebook page, it was shared more than 1,100 times, liked 2,100 times and seen by more than 75,000 people.
Other FaceBook pages, including Active Heroes, have posted the photo. The post on Active Heroes has been shared more than 23,000 times and liked 168,000 more.
So, as it turns out, these thoughtful soldiers actually made it a Happy Mother’s Day for their mothers and many more around the country.
Rioz is on the far left in all three photos. After the NCO Academy, he’ll return to Bryan where he’s stationed.
Ealier this month, Bill Nuche, a Marine who graduated from Bryan High School, posted video on his facebook page of his fellow Marines singing “Let It Go” while watching ‘Frozen.’ A commanding officer made him take the post down, but not before it too went viral. A copy of the video that was shared on YouTube has been viewed more than a million times.
