The College Station Police Department has made changes in our beat configuration to be more efficient and better serve the citizens and visitors of College Station. The city is still divided in three sectors and eight beats (see map). Each sector is under the command of a police lieutenant and each beat is under the command of a patrol sergeant. The beats serve as boundaries to provide ease of recognition and travel for officers. Beats are established with similar geographic characteristics and clientele, allowing officers and beat sergeants to be more effective and efficient at solving like problems in the community. In reviewing the institutional and historical organizational structure, these new boundaries will help to distribute the call loads more evenly, which allows officers to respond more efficiently and effectively. For more information on sector or beat personnel please visit www.cstx.gov/police.
The Community Enhancement Unit has been implemented to utilize problem-oriented policing strategies to resolve issues that affect crime, the fear of crime and the quality of life in College Station. The CEU will work in conjunction with beat officers to address issues or concerns in their beats. Each sector will have a CEU officer assigned as well.
For more information regarding a sector or beat, you may contact the appropriate supervisor listed at www.cstx.gov/police.
With these improvements to our organization, we hope to not only enhance the quality of life for the citizens of the community, but help bring CSPD and the community closer together.
