COLLEGE STATION – College Station Police have identified the man who was killed in an accident early Wednesday morning.

According to police, David Alan Wesneski, 25 of College Station, was a passenger in a pickup truck that rear-ended an 18-wheeler around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of George Bush and FM 2818.

Police say a 2006 Volvo 18 wheeler tractor/trailer, headed south on FM 2818, was stopped at the intersection. When the light turned green, the driver started to accelerate. A Ford pickup, also headed south on FM 2818, did not slow in time and hit the back of the 18-wheeler.

Wesneski was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pick-up, a 22 year old male, was transported to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Wesneski and the driver were on their way back from a hunting trip. Wednesday was Wesneski's birthday.

Harvey Mitchell Parkway was closed to all traffic between George Bush and Luther West for approximately 5 hours while the College Station Police Department Traffic Unit, Crime Scene Unit and Criminal Investigations Division investigated the accident and cleared the wreckage
