College Station Education Foundation Awards $64,000 In Grant Money To CSISD Campuses

It's was a time of marching at College Station schools Wednesday morning.

The College Station Education Foundation made a surprise visit to ten schools Wednesday complete with a marching band and cheerleaders.

The foundation handed out more than $64,000 in grant money including money for 10 iPads for classes at South Knoll Elementary.

The grant money comes from private donors, businesses and even from school district staff members voluntarily taking deductions from their paychecks.

"But the real wonder is to watch the teachers' eyes. I don't know if you watched when we marched up and down the kids were fantastic but the teachers are very happy. They've been hearing through the Legislature what we have to do. We need to do more and we're gonna have less and that's tough because they do see the young people. They do see the need," said Cal McNeill, President of the College Station Education Foundation.

The last check presented at South Knoll Elementary marked $500,000 total grant money given throughout the district in the last ten years.
