College Station voters, get ready to cast your ballots in November.
By a 61-39 margin, voters Tuesday rejected a proposition which would have kept the city's elections in May -- but only of odd-numbered years -- and changed term lengths for city councilmembers from three years to four years.
Instead, future elections in College Station will be held each November in conjunction with other state and national elections. Terms of the mayor and councilmembers will remain at three years in length.
Six years remains the maximum number of consecutive years a person can serve on the council.
As a result of Tuesday's election, the next College Station city election will be held in November 2012 instead of May 2012 as previously scheduled.
