Corps Final Review Set For Saturday

The Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University will hold Final Review Saturday (May 5). Step off from the Quad will be at 9:30 a.m. and the cadets will march to Kyle Field where the review will begin about 10 a.m. Kyle Field will open at 8:30 a.m. with open seating for those who wish to see the event.

In recent years, the review has followed the last graduation ceremony at Texas A&M. The move will allow cadets not involved in graduation and commissioning to leave campus at the completion of their final exams.

Approximately 85 cadets will be commissioned into the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps at the University Commencement Ceremony at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 12. For a listing of times for graduation ceremonies that include specific colleges, click here.
The review will be in two parts with the first pass including the outgoing seniors. This will be followed by a 30-minute break while the incoming seniors and other corps classes change to their new ranks for next fall and then the second pass will begin with the juniors taking their new roles. The entire event should last approximately three hours.

Final Review is the last activity of the Corps of Cadets as a unit before it is dismissed for the summer. It is a full military review of the entire corps separated into two passes. The reviewing stand usually consists of high ranking military and university officials and visiting dignitaries, and the pass in review allows the reviewing officials to inspect the ranks of the corps as they march past.

After the first pass, the cadets go back to the dorms where they prepare for a second pass, but this time only three classes march: the new seniors, juniors and sophomores. The second pass of final review is the only time the corps marches without freshmen. It is also the new seniors' first public appearance in their new senior boots and new roles as the leaders of campus.

The old seniors form a line facing the corps, and this second pass is made in their honor. The Corps of Cadets passes in review this time saluting the seniors rather than the reviewing officers when each outfit passes its old senior class.
