LEXINGTON, Texas -- The search resumed Thursday morning for a missing woman believed to be swept away by flood waters during Tuesday's storms.

On Thursday DPS officials told 45-year-old Sally Lucker's friends that a woman's body was found in a car that turned up in Yegua Creek Wednesday. The person's identity has not yet been confirmed.

Lucker had just taken her husband to the hospital in Caldwell County Tuesday evening and was returning home near Lexington on FM 1624 when she came across the swollen creek.

A Texas Department of Transportation worker who was putting up barricades at Yegua Creek told authorities that Lucker drove past him into the water.

Tuesday night, a helicopter searched for signs of Lucker but the effort turned up nothing.

A search for Lucker resumed around 11 a.m. Wednesday while concerned family and friends waited anxiously at the water’s edge for any word.

Divers hit on what they believe are the tires of Lucker’s upside down car at the bottom of Yegua Creek late Wednesday afternoon, but the water was moving too fast and the visibility was too poor for crews to determine if Lucker is still inside the vehicle.

“I know in my mind that it's her car, but I don't in my mind if she's in it,” said Geoff Lucker, Sally’s husband of eight years.

“It's horrible. We don't know if she's alive. We don't know if she's in that car sitting at the bottom of the creek and not to know, not to have any resolution for almost 24-hours is frustrating,” said Lisa Harrow a close friend of Sally Lucker.

Family and friends say Sally Lucker started Lexington’s first animal rescue group called “Blue Paws." In one year, she is credited for spaying and neutering 600 cats.

“It's just a shame for the community and the cats and everybody else that she helped. They're the ones that are losing out,” added Geoff Lucker.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department said that dive teams with the Texas Department of Public Safety will be back out at Yegua Creek at 8 a.m. Thursday hoping to determine if Lucker is inside the car.
