As the Diamonds and Dirt Barrel Horse Classic galloped off into its second year in existance, even more riders and horses have pulled up to the trough.

"I was here last year and it's definitely grown," said Brittany Rahm from Oklahoma.

With 25 states and 4 countries represented, the event is one of the biggest on the circuit. In all, 700 horses with an estimated value of $10 million are at the classic.

And in just a short amount of time, Diamonds and Dirt has already gotten a polished reputation.

"They kind of go all out, it's a first class event to me," said Rahm.

"I don't know if we go to any other facility besides the BFA World Championships at Oklahoma City in December that is this spectacular," said attendee Pete Owen.

Owen is a trainer and a rider that's here hoping to cash in on a share of the $450,000 is cash and prizes.

"The awards and the things that are given away, and the money, the extra this and that, and the hospitality is just over the top compared to a lot of the events we go to," said Owen.

And while the Diamonds and Dirt Classic is all about the four legged animals in the arena, it's also about the four legged animals known as mans best friend. The classic raises money for K9s4Cops and last year raised $80,000 for the program.

A number of organizers hope to rein over this year.

Now the best part about the Diamonds and Dirt Barrel Horse Classic is it's free to spectators. It will run Thursday through Saturday with races going on throughout the day until around 7 at night Red Steagall will perform on Thursday and on Friday night a Dog and Pony show will take place.

The classic closes out with a concert from Robert Earl Keen on Saturday night and to attend that show you will need a ticket. Those cost $50 and can be purchased at the door.
