A brand new, mortgage free home is being constructed for a local disabled veteran, courtesy of Operation Finally Home.
30 year old Sergeant Monte Bernardo saw the site his new home for the first time Saturday.
Bernardo was announced as the owner of the new home by Governor Rick Perry during halftime of an Aggie game back in November of last year.
Bernardo became an amputee after losing both legs and his left hand when an IED exploded during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Bernardo's new home will be completed sometime this fall.
He plans to study aerospace engineering at Texas A&M.
