It's a landmark watering hole...in College Station.
And after 40 years, they are still serving up country music, cold beer and some of the best burgers in town.
The Dixie Chicken celebrated being open for 40 years and still serving up their traditional entertainment and drinks.
The Dixie chicken has become a long standing tradition for repeat patrons like Aggie Doug Brown.
"My first memory of A&M - I was a freshman, of course you could drink at 18 back then...is coming to the chicken.
And Corbin Maclaine says so many have made lots of good memories here over the years.
"whether you went to school here or not, you probably know what the dixie chicken is, you've probably been here, you probably know people that dunked their rings here."
And to celebrate those memories, the famous watering hole kicked the day off with Live country music out on the back porch...
"we're having a good time and kind of recreating the feel Don Gantor had back in the early 70's..."
Corbin remembers lots of interesting things happening out on the back porch...
"people brought couches, christmas trees, inflatable swimming pools and there was a ckicken on a leash one time."
Not much has changed in the last 40 years... Not much at all...
"those swinging doors, you walk through are the same swinging doors that have been here, and I noticed that the womens restroom is still the same."
but its that feeling of home that keeps bringing people back after all these years....
"every time now we come to a&M, we have to come to the Dixie chicken, with our kids, you know we spend time, it's our gathering place, it's a great A&M tradition, so that's why we came back."
and everyone says they hope they will get to keep coming back for the next 40 years.
