More than 2,500 people turned out to vote early in Brazos County in the first day of voting Monday.
Brazos County Clerk Karen McQueen says the 2,509 voters represent a four percent increase from the last general election in 2008. That year, according to county records 37,023 people turned out to vote early in the presidential election, or 63 percent of the total vote.
The College Station Utilities Meeting and Training Facility on Graham Road in College Station had the most voters come out with 941. The Brazos County Administration Building on Texas Avenue in Bryan saw 665 people turn out.
Madison County had 272 early voters Monday. Their elections coordinator said that was slightly up from 2008 as well.
In Burleson County, 254 voters turned out on the first day of early voting. In Robertson County, 359 came out. Grimes County saw 434 early voters Monday.
Early voting runs through November 2. Election Day is November 6.
