Last night's storm hit some areas harder than others.
One family in Bryan says they didn't realize when they bought their house that it was located in a flood zone.

It's rustic and serene, in this western part of Bryan.
Pieces of land that were dry are now fully saturated with water.
The only problem is, this is someone's backyard.

Brazos County resident, Cedric Stanford, said, "I went to sleep last night and woke up this morning with a pool!"

Cedric, his wife and their children have only lived here a year, but this isn't the first time their front and back yards have flooded because of heavy rain.

"I'm 6'6'' and the water came to my knees," said Stanford.

They knew they had to act fast to keep their belongings from possibly being ruined...like their neighbor's SUV.

Stanford said, "{We} moved all the trucks to the front and moved the barbeque pit where it wouldn't float off, my little girl's scooter, bikes."

The Stanfords house sits at the bottom of a hill, so the rain that fell, plus runoff from their neighbor's properties, pools in their backyard.

"It was supposed to be getting burned, so all that was over there, in a pile," said Stanford.

It's hard to tell when they're under water, but those pieces of tree in his yard, they're actually this big and that water was moving fast enough to move pieces this size across his yard.

Stanford said, "This is a great place to live, it's just when it rains, it floods real bad."

He's hoping the county can help with drainage problem because when they moved onto Lake Drive they didn't think they'd actually be living on a lake.
