UPDATE: 9:20pm Tuesday night
DPS reports the man killed in the crash was 47 year old Jon Raymond Ratliff of Waco.

The driver of the 18-wheel truck, 52 year old Richard Nathaniels of Bryan, was taken to St. Joseph Hospital with minor injuries.

A fatal crash on Highway 6 between Bryan and Hearne Tuesday afternoon shut down traffic in both directions for several hours.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports it happened near the weigh station in the southbound lanes of Highway 6 shortly after 2 PM.

DPS Troopers say Hearne Police received a 911 call Tuesday afternoon informing them that a man in a white Mustang was driving erratically on Highway 6.

Shortly after that, the accident happened between Spring Creek and FM 2549. Authorities tell us a white Mustang and a tractor trailer collided going south on 6. The car's driver is dead, and the truck's driver has been taken to St. Joseph in Bryan to be treated.

DPS Troopers say the driver of the mustang was from the Waco area, and the driver of the tractor trailer is a Bryan man.

TxDOT says Highway 6 has now been reopened.
