One man is dead after the 18-wheeler he was driving rolled over early Tuesday morning.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety, 66-year-old James Yarbrough, of Palestine, TX, was hauling oil field equipment to the Texas Gulf coast when he moved onto the shoulder of Highway 79 to allow traffic to pass. DPS Troopers say that's when the trailer started to leave the shoulder. The weight of the load caused the truck to roll over.
The cab of the truck was bent back onto the trailer. When the truck came to a stop, the cab then burst into flames. Yarbrough was trapped inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Leon County Justice of the Peace Lori Reid.
Tuesday afternoon, Highway 79 had one lane closed while crews tried to haul the wreckage out of the embankment. Officials say they will be out there most of the day.
Drivers are asked to use caution when driving that area.
