Big changes for high school athletes in Bryan could be on the horizon.
At Monday afternoon's board of trustees meeting, BISD officials discussed the possibility of replacing the grass at Merrill Green Stadium with field turf, along with a new track surface surrounding the field.
It would likely cost more than a million dollars to make the changes, but that money would come out of leftover funds from the $37.5 million bond voters approved in 2008, not out of the district's general fund.
Both Bryan High and Rudder High teams compete at Merrill Green.
No decisions have been made on the issue. The next school board meeting comes a week from Monday.
