The filing period for candidates in Bryan and College Station technically starts Saturday.
However, since the city offices are closed on the weekends, interested candidates can file starting Monday through August 18.
In Bryan, the Single Member District 3 and 4 seats could be contested. Bryan's council has five of its members representing five geographic regions. Districts 3 and 4 represent eastern and central portions of the city.
In College Station, Places 1, 3 and 5 are up for votes. All councilmembers in College Station represent all portions of the city.
The general election is set for November 4.
School board positions in the cities are also up for grabs. In Bryan, the Single Member District 2 seat and the at-large seat are set to be on the ballot. In College Station, Places 6 and 7 are set to be decided.
