Fish From Dallas-Area Lakes Could Be Harmful to Eat

State health experts are warning people not to eat any species of fish from a Dallas-area lake.
The advisory Friday from the Texas Department of State Health
Services says laboratory testing of fish samples from Mountain
Creek Lake in Grand Prairie found elevated levels of dioxins and
polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs.
Experts say PCBs are a likely carcinogen in high doses in
humans.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality had asked DSHS,as
part of a five-year followup program, to collect samples from
Mountain Creek Lake to re-evaluate toxicity levels in fish.
DSHS is lifting an aquatic life order that prohibited people
from possessing fish from Mountain Creek Lake.
