A former Madisonville police sergeant will spend the next five years on probation after a jury found him guilty Friday of retaliation.
Jeffery Covington agreed to the sentence Monday morning.
He will also have to serve 30 days in jail as a condition of his probation and he'll have to give up his peace officer's license.
Covington was convicted of having someone plant drugs in his ex-wife's car last year.
