Former First Lady Reads to Elementary and Middle School Students

Former First Lady Barbara Bush read to thousands of elementary and middle school students Thursday at the fifth annual Reading Discovery and Distance Learning Program.

It was held at the George Bush Library on the Texas A&M campus.

This year's program focused on political campaigns and elections.

About 600 students from local schools attended the program, as well as 30-thousand other students from other states who participated by video-conference.

KBTX Media General Manager Mike Wright emceed the event.
