Four people are still in the hospital after a deadly crash on FM 2818 in College Station that killed two students over the weekend.
Police say 20-year-old Nathan Hardcastle and his girlfriend, 19-year-old Taylor Leonard, died at the hospital as a result of the accident. One person is still in the intensive care unit, and three others are in stable condition at the hospital, according to College Station police.
“It’s tragic. They shouldn't be losing their lives this young. It’s just really sad,” said Kelsey McCoy, a Texas A&M student.
Police say a Dodge pick-up carrying six people was pulling out of the Parkway Place Apartments when it was t-boned by a second pick-up heading south on FM 2818. Police say Leonard was the driver of the first pick-up.
All seven people were transported to the hospital after the wreck.
Police say one person has been released from the hospital so far.
An online profile for Leonard shows that the 19-year-old was a student at Houston Community College. Police say Hardcastle was a sophomore at Texas A&M studying ecological restoration. Both were from the Houston area.
Police can't say if alcohol was a factor, or if the people involved in the wreck were wearing seat belts.
College Station Police and TXDOT will be closing down Harvey Mitchell Parkway between Holleman and Luther West Tuesday at 8:45 AM to reconstruct the accident for the investigation. The road will be closed for up to five hours, so police say to avoid the area if you can.
