The Texas A&M Corps Commandant has released the funeral information for a cadet killed last month in a head on collision on SH 290 near the Harris & Waller County line.

Services for cadet Miguel Hernandez will consist of a visitation from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at the Houston Spanish Spring Branch Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1614 Bingle Rd, Houston, Texas, 77055. A prayer service will follow from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 6, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the same location. Interment to follow immediately after the service.

Miguel Hernandez, a graduate of Northbrook High School, along with another freshman cadet Amy Pacheco, died in a fiery crash on Highway 290. A passenger, Fransisco Campos was injured in the crash, but is expected to recover.

Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies say the accident happened at 3:30 AM on March 3rd on Highway 290 near Binford Rd. in Waller.

Deputies say a woman in a Ford Mustang was driving the wrong way on the highway when she collided head-on with a Ford Explorer carrying the freshman cadets.

The driver of the Mustang, Katie Thomas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say beer bottles were found in the Mustang, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
