GOP Strategist Matt Mackowiak joined us for an interview early this evening. He is in Tampa, Florida scheduled to attend the Republican National Convention which has been postponed from Monday to Tuesday.
Rashi: First off, what’s the mood like in Tampa?
Mackowiak: Well it’s pretty wet here. We are just starting to get some rain from the hurricane that is down in South Florida. It is obviously disappointing for folks who have come to the convention. There are as many as 50,000 people to come to this event. It has been planned for well over a year in terms of the very detailed planning that’s gone on. The choice of the city was 3 years old or so for the site of the convention. We are looking at 3 days instead of 4 now. More compact schedule.
Rashi: How do you feel about the Republican National Convention being postponed? Has it affected a lot of people over there?
Mackowiak: Yeah. I mean there’s still excitement. Everyone wanted to get the convention started Monday and now it is going to start Tuesday, so you pack 4 days into 3 so there’s less time to enjoy it, but you will still get all those things that you need to get done, get done.
