ROBERTSON COUNTY A lost load of gravel had Highway 6 in Robertson County shut down in both directions for over an hour Wednesday morning.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. along Higway 6, a few miles south of Hearne.
DPS Troopers said the driver of the truck didn't realize the load of gravel was pouring out of his trailer until another truck driver radioed him.
Traffic was backed up for more than a mile in each direction. Many waited outside their vehicles.
Rick Williams from Waller was on his way to Temple when he got caught up in the traffic.
"I was supposed to be there for surgery at 11. Doesn't look like I'm going to make it."
James and Mary White from College Station said they were headed to Fort Worth when they got stuck. James said they'd been sitting in the traffic for just under an hour.
"We understand there are a lot of accidents on this highway," said James. So I guess it's expected."
Investigators said the truck belongs to Statewide Materials Transport.
Texas Department of Transportation crews got things cleared up, and the highway was reopened around 9:40 a.m..
No injuries were reported.
