A local Mexican restaurant is forced to shut its doors after inspectors with the Brazos County Health Department found a major roach infestation.

On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina on Texas Avenue in College Station was closed yesterday after inspectors found roaches crawling out of a hole in the corner of the kitchen. They were also found on kitchen light fixtures and walls.

The restaurant has to be closed for a mandatory 24 hours and will be fined $500.

The management at On The Border decided to remain closed for an additional day to thoroughly clean up the problem.

Inspectors from the health department will re-inspect On The Border on Friday to see if it's ready to reopen.
