A Hearne police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave following a shooting Saturday night.
According to the Department of Public Safety, Sergeant Stephen Yohner was responding to a home burglary in the 200 block of Hall Street in Hearne when he came across the suspect, Benjamin Carroll Junior.
Troopers say Sergeant Yohner shot Carroll in the knee. He underwent surgery for the bullet wound, but has since been released from the hospital.
A family member told News 3 last night Carroll was arrested for criminal trespassing and is out of jail on bond.
This incident is currently under investigation by The Texas Rangers.
