BRYAN, Texas Expect to see more road work along Highway Six in both Bryan and College Station this week.
Contractors for the Texas Department of Transportation are set to start two construction projects.
Monday crews will begin the bridge widening project at Rock Prairie Road and Highway Six in College Station. During construction, they'll add turnarounds and pedestrian walkways.
Lane closures are expected for Rock Prairie Road, both frontage roads and Highway Six main lane traffic during the next several days
while traffic control is set up. After that, there will be daily lane closures for Highway Six main lane traffic between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm each day.
The $4.2 million dollar project is expected to be completed by late fall 2014.
Tuesday work begins on new southbound ramps on Highway 6 between F-M 158 / William Joel Bryan Parkway and Briarcrest Drive (F-M 1179.)
TxDOT Contractor Big Creek Construction will close off the exit ramps between this area.
Vehicles heading south on Highway 6 will need to exit F-M 158 if they want to travel to Briarcrest Drive.
The southbound entrance ramp south of F-M 158 will also be closed.
The inside lane of the Highway 6 southbound frontage road will also be closed reducing travel on the frontage road to one lane between F-M 158 and Briarcrest Drive.
A construction zone will also be put in place for southbound Highway 6 in this area reducing the speed limit from 75 to 60 m.p.h.
The work is expected to take two months as part of a $9.6 million ramp project along Highway 6 in Bryan and College Station.
