It's running with a purpose.
Runners gathered at the the Brazos Running Company to Run For Boston. It started at 5:30 this morning and has continued every half hour after that.
"I really wanted to show my support somehow and I feel like this is a way to show my support to those that were out there running," said runner Andrea Shaw.
From babies to folks in their middle ages, everyone is taking to the streets as a show of solidarity in the aftermath of the Boston bombings.
"I want to be an avid runner. We're working towards it," said Jim Pettigrew.
Pettigrew served in the Navy for 28 years and both of his sons live in Boston.
"They think it's pretty cool. They're kind of amazed their mom and dad are out running but it's a good thing," said Pettigrew.
And how did all these folks hear about the Run For Boston event?
"Through Facebook," said Shaw.
"We need to show the Boston community that the runners across the world are going to support them," said Dan McClain with the Brazos Running Company.
McClain posted on his store's website about the event and that's brought more soles into his store then ever before and trust me, he's got a lot of shoes.
"It just went crazy on us so we decided to do it all day," said McClain.
For these runners, showing their support is a lot like running a marathon.
"Nothing stops them from achieving their goals so it's another opportunity to show that resilience," said Pettigrew.
The last joint run is scheduled to leave the Brazos Running Company at 7:00 tonight but organizers say if runners keep coming, they'll keep going.
There's no official number of how many runners participated today but the folks at the Brazos Running Company say several hundred people have joined in.
