HUNTSVILLE, WALKER COUNTY A Huntsville police officer is recovering after being injured early Monday morning working a traffic accident.

According to police, Office Chris Janis just arrived at the scene of a disabled vehicle on Interstate 45 just before 5 a.m. Monday. Janis got out of his car and was walking toward the accident when another vehicle apparently lost control and hit his patrol car. The car lurched forward and hit Janis.

“I want to thank the emergency medical personal for their quick response and attention to Officer Janis,” HPD Chief Kevin Lunsford said. “We are very grateful for their assistance and role in bringing a member of our departmental family out of harm’s way.”
