Huntsville City Manager Resigns

Huntsville is in need of a new city manager after the resignation of William Baine Monday night.

Following a special session of the city council, Baine's resignation was accepted. His job status was the only item on the agenda of the meeting.

"The City Council accepted Mr. Baine’s resignation Monday, and we approved all related documents,” Huntsville Mayor Mac Woodward said in a statement. "We appreciate Mr. Baine’s service to this community and wish him all the best. We do not anticipate any major changes in City policy or function as a result of this decision, and our first priority is still serving the citizens of Huntsville."

According to the mayor, the search for a new city manager and an interim will be on the agenda for the May 1 council meeting.

Baine has held the position since August 2008. According to an article by the Huntsville Item, the Sam Houston State graduate spent a year of high school in Huntsville and also worked as a city sanitation worker during college. He came back to Huntsville in 2007 as a local bank's vice president. Before taking the city manager's job.
