Huntsville Man Arrested for Assault, Resisting Arrest

On Friday, May 11, 2012 at approximately 1:27 a.m., the Huntsville Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance at a private residence in the 7000 block of State Highway 75 South.

Officers from the Huntsville Police Department arrived on scene and were advised by the victim that she had been in an argument with her live-in boyfriend Christopher Brown, and during the argument Brown produced a handgun and pointed it at her.

The victim advised that Brown had then directed the handgun away from her and had fired a shot into the floor of the bedroom.

Officers set up a perimeter around the house and attempted to make contact with Brown. During the course of attempting to contact Brown additional gunshots were heard inside the house. When Brown failed to answer the repeated attempts to contact him, the Huntsville Police Department SWAT team was deployed to the scene.

Huntsville Police Negotiator, Sgt. David Collins, was able to eventually make contact with Brown via text message. Sgt. Collins kept regular contact with Brown through text messages over the next hour and a half, until he was able to make telephone contact through a third party. Brown was eventually persuaded to exit the house. When Brown exited the house he was given specific commands to place his hands on his head and turn away, which he failed to comply with. Brown then attempted to reenter the house. Officers seeing that Brown was unarmed were able to take him into custody.

Detectives from the Huntsville Police Department, Criminal Investigation Division, responded to the residence to process the scene. Detectives located a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun, a loaded AK-47 assault rifle, various swords and knifes.

Christopher James Brown DOB 02-15-1984 was arrested for Aggravated Assault/Family Violence (F2) Resisting Arrest (MA).
