Juarez Documentary Showing in Bryan

A documentary on the drug-fueled violence in Mexico will be showing in Bryan starting this week.

"Murder Capital of the World" details the violent situation in Juarez, where thousands have died. Drug smugglers have fought for routes into the United States from Juarez, and the government has been trying to crack down. As producer/director Charlie Minn discussed on First News at Four Wednesday, the result has been bloody.

"There were more murders in Juarez than in the 9/11 attacks," Minn said. "Since 2008, there have been more than 10,000 murder in that city, which is 40 percent greater than both our Middle East wars put together."

Thursday at 7:00 p.m., "Murder Capital of the World" will be shown for free at Premiere Cinemas in Bryan, with Minn discussing it with the audience afterwards. If you can't make it then, there will be multiple showings at Premiere starting Friday and into next week.
