A 42-year-old Bryan woman has been convicted of health care fraud while running two local medical equipment companies.

Investigators say, Yolanda Nowlin, who operated Yellabone Medic Care Express Equipment Company and Yellabone Medical Equipment Incorporated on Texas Avenue, submitted millions of dollars of claims to medicare and medicaid for equipment that wasn't needed and never delivered.

They say she paid kickbacks to a large number of recruiters in return for the referral of beneficiaries.

She'll be sentenced in December.
